Getting Started & Partnership

Q: What type of carriers does Long Prairie Logistics work with?

A: We primarily partner with independent owner-operators and small fleets (1-5 trucks) who possess their own active MC Operating Authority. We specialize in maximizing profits for carriers operating Dry Van’s, Reefer’s, Flatbed’s, and Hot Shots. We use more than Six load boards to find you a profitable loads.

Q: What is your fee structure?

A: We typically charge a fixed 8% commission of the gross load revenue semi trucks. This fee covers all load searching, rate negotiation, broker setup, and paperwork. Our fee is performance-based—we only get paid when you get paid, unless you have a subscription. Our goal is to ensure that even after our fee, you net significantly more than you would by dispatching yourself. Don’t hesitate, special rates apply to veterans, Hot Shots, and small fleets.

Q: Are there any contracts or long-term commitments?

A: No. We operate on a service agreement basis, not a long-term contract. You are free to stop using our service at any time. We believe our performance and the high rates we secure will be enough to keep you as a partner. We often offer a risk-free trial period for the first few loads to prove our value upfront.

Q: Do you work with new authorities (under 90 days)?

A: Yes, we consider new authorities on a case-by-case basis. While securing profitable loads can be more challenging for a new MC number, we recommend applying and using your promo code so we can discuss your specific equipment and lane strategy.

Operations & Load Management

Q: Who signs the Rate Confirmation (Rate Con)?

A: You, the carrier, always sign the rate confirmation. We negotiate the rate and send the Rate Con directly to you for final approval and signature before any load is booked. This ensures you always have complete control and transparency over the freight you haul. Want more freedom? A signed Limited Power of Attorney that only allows us to sign the RateCon for you for loads that align with your requirements and you agree on.

Q: Do I have a say in the loads you book?

A: Absolutely. Your truck, your choice. We work strictly within your preferences for home time, preferred regions, preferred RPM, and any "no-go" states or cities. We find the best options that fit your criteria, and you approve every single load before we finalize the booking.

Q: How do you protect me from non-paying brokers?

A: We conduct a mandatory credit check on every new broker or shipper using industry tools before any load is booked. We check their payment history, days-to-pay, and broker authority status to ensure we are only booking freight with reliable, financially stable partners.

Q: Do you handle the factoring/invoicing process?

A: Yes. We will send the Rate Con, Bill of Lading (BOL), and any necessary documents directly to your factoring company and NOA to broker, (if you use one), or handle the invoicing to the broker/shipper. This streamlines your cash flow and minimizes your paperwork.

Our Unique Value

Q: How are you different from a freight broker?

A: We work for you, the carrier, not the shipper. A broker's priority is to move freight as cheaply as possible for their client (the shipper). Our priority is to move your truck as profitably as possible for our client (you, the carrier). We are your advocate in rate negotiations and your back office.

Q: What benefit does being Veteran Owned offer your carriers?

A: Our military background instills a commitment to integrity, clear communication, and efficient planning. We treat your schedule and your profit with the discipline required to keep your business running smoothly and profitably, free of unnecessary complications. We offer a veteran’s discount for verified owner-operators with a valid ID.
